#5: Xiaoxiao's Story
Xiaoxiao Liu has been studying at UTokyo for over 4 years as a graduate student. Her research is about investigating the fundamental mechanisms and novel therapeutic strategies for leukemia. After receiving her PhD, she will continue her research work in the pharmaceutical industry and focus on developing effective combination therapies that benefit cancer patients.

Xiaoxiao’s message to female students at UTokyo:
Don’t ever let any gender stereotypes play your mind and influence your decision making. The most important is to understand what you want in life. Once you figure that out, then try all the way to achieve it. I always believe we are all human beings first, then come identities including gender. There is nothing a woman or man cannot do.
