International Women's Day 2023 at UTokyo

Last updated: 21 May 2023

As a part of Women's History Month 2023, we organized a small gathering at the university on 20 March. We welcomed a diverse group of participants to join us in celebrating the indomitable spirit of women. The event commenced with a screening of "Hidden Figures," a captivating film that sheds light on the extraordinary achievements of African-American women mathematicians at NASA during the Space race. As the movie unfolded, it sparked emotions of admiration and inspiration among attendees, highlighting the tenacity and resilience of these trailblazing women who defied societal barriers.

There was also an art workshop where participants had the opportunity to express their creativity by coloring the pictures of women who have made a significant impact in history. Following this, the event featured an exciting trivia game focused on feminism and women-related questions. This engaging activity aimed to test participants' knowledge while educating and sparking insightful discussions.
