A history of women at the University of Tokyo

Last updated: 19 March 2022

In 1946, the University of Tokyo first opened its doors to female students. 75 years later, in 2021 women undergrads passed the 21% mark for the first time. To take stock of how far we have come, and to reflect on what the future holds for the women of UTokyo, we have conducted research on the history of women at UTokyo.
